Making Learning Fun With Preschool Learning Games

Learning with games is fun. This statement stands true not only with children, but with adults as well. The best received training programs in corporate houses, designed for senior executives, managers, CEOs and the like, are those which impart knowledge through games, simulations, role-playing and, generally speaking, fun. This is so because the mind is more receptive when it is relaxed; relaxation to the mind comes automatically when humor, fun, laughter is present.

How Preschool Learning Games Can Help Learning

Children play, and whatever interferes with this state, will receive a certain amount of resistance. Learning is usually associated with discipline, unpleasantness, restraint and other negative feelings which actually impede learning. When the same teachings are imparted through preschool learning games the children not only enjoy it, they learn faster. Since the negative feelings are removed, learning becomes an extension of their nature.

Yes, it is true that children seek to learn by nature. From infancy, they want to learn to walk, to use their hands better, to talk (express themselves), to please (obey rules), to master their environment. This need to learn is innate in children. They start showing resistance towards it when it takes the fun away – and this is what happens in classrooms.

There have been so many studies carried out in this line, and all the studies confirmed the fact that keeping studies fun makes learning more successful. Children ought to be encouraged to see the process as a game, and not as imposition. Preschool learning games are a right step in this direction.

The receptivity of children between 3-5 years of age can be replicated in higher classes if the same methods are applied. Computerization actually can be extremely useful in this aspect. These are excellent tools to use not only for and as preschool learning games, but also as simulators of different experiments for children of higher classes.

For example, science students would not need to catch and dissect cockroaches and frogs to learn how the body systems work. These can be simulated on the computer with the same effects. Also, since it does not involve live animals, it can be practiced upon again and again and again, until the basics are clear in the student’s mind – without any pain infliction to animals and inconvenience to students.

The ball starts rolling with preschool learning games right at the beginning of the child’s schooling career. If it is done well, the child will be committed to learning and will actively seek it in all spheres of life.
